Welcome to Bathford Parish Council
The full Parish Council meets monthly to make decisions that affect life in the Parish. Issues are initially discussed by the committees set out below, being ratified by the full Council.
Please check the Councillor contact page to see who is a member of each committee.
Funds are raised via the Precept which is added on to your annual council tax bill issued by BANES. However, Bathford Parish Council is a totally separate organisation and is not run by or accountable to BANES.
Our connection to BANES is limited to complaints about individual councillor behaviour. Complaints should be addressed to the independent Monitoring Officer.
Our Committees
Amenities
Responsible for the green spaces of the village, including the play area and the Wynne Willson Playing Field. Ensuring these are kept safe and usable for residents and sports teams. Grass cutting contracts are organised to maintain these areas.
The committee also undertakes to maintain the infrastructure, such as benches and Village Green bus shelter.
Responsibility for the Parish-owned Allotments is borne by the Council, working with the Allotment Wardens.
Communications
This Committee produces the parish magazine, The Bathford Bulletin which produces 10 issues a year about local information within the Parish. The publication is free to all residents.
It also conducts any public facing surveys and liaises with residents on all aspects of Parish life.
This website is also produced, monitored and updated by this committee.
Finance and Administration
Responsible for the financial management of the council, setting and monitoring the budget and completion of the annual internal and external audits.
It is also responsible for council documentations, ensuring they are up to date and conform with the latest legal requirements.
Highways, Footpaths and Lighting
This committee has the responsibility to ensure that the standards of roads and paths are maintained to a satisfactory standard in conjunction with the Local Authority.
It operates with the guiding principle to ensure road safety to pedestrian and road users alike, throughout all of the Parish.
Planning and The Environment
Considers planning applications in the Parish, sending comments to BANES as statutory consultees. We cannot, however, make a final decision as to whether an application is passed or not, which remains the domain of BANES Planning Department.
Other duties of the committee include consulting with BANES on Neighbourhood Plans and house building targets.
Could you help?
Alongside the full Parish Councillors, members of the public can be 'co-opted' to committees. These are generally people having expertise in certain areas who feel they may be of benefit to the council and the community.

Information about Councillors

They are elected every four years, although an interim vacancy can be filled in one of two ways:
